Sherman Chamber Director of the Year 2008

As owner of Grayson Home Health, Kelly Sexton may conceal her pride behind her shy smile when receiving accolades like "Business Woman of the Year" and "Director of the Year." But it should be something she's becoming accustomed to...especially since she seems to win each title more than once!   The twice recognized "Business Woman of the Year" has now won "Director of the Year" a second time as well!  On January 16th, the Sherman Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Awards Luncheon, celebrating the outstanding businesses and community leaders of 2008.  Voted on by the Chamber's 18 board of directors, this makes the second consecutive year for Kelly to take the title "Director of the Year."

When your passion is caring for the health of those unable to care for themselves, taking a proactive stance on disease comes naturally.  That's why Grayson Home Health endeavors to champion the fight against silent killers like heart disease.  This year, Grayson Home Health partnered with the Texoma Health foundation to fight for the heart health of women with the Go Red campaign.  It all began December 9th in Whitesboro: free health screenings were offered by Grayson Home Health in collaboration with Home Hospice of Grayson County and Taps.  Two months later, Grayson Home Health had screened 213 women for heart disease risk factors and educated them about symptoms, causes and preventive lifestyle modifications.  Dr. Nikhil Joshi joined the crusade against heart disease in women by graciously providing an additional free screening for Ankle Brachial Index.  The campaign culminated in the Go Red Luncheon at Tanglewood on Lake Texoma on February 6th.  The event saw an attendance of approximately 100 people in 2008, just one short year ago.  This year, the event size quadrupled to an attendance of over 400...a huge success for Go Red and a life saving event for so many women now and in the future!
